Factory Tour in New Mexico
The sparsely populated, rural region that is western Texas and southern New Mexico is among the only pistachio nut producers in the United States outside California. Stop by the Eagle Ranch, in Alamogordo, New Mexico, for a comprehensive look at the pistachio nut production process, from start to finish. On your factory tour, you'll visit the field, in which the nuts are grown, as well as the processing and packaging facilities, where the crop is prepared for consumption and shipped off to all parts of the country.
Behind-the-scenes and factory tours are typically family-friendly activities good for a short and interesting diversion from a region's mainstream tourist activities. Note that, while the tour of the Eagle Ranch is free, some tours have irregular hours and admission restrictions. Click on the factory tour icon for more practical information.
