Our Sports Superfan Says:

Featuring live harness racing from July to December, Batavia Downs is the oldest lighted harness track in the country. Furthermore, it is the first race track to be owned and operated by an off track betting company, in this case the Western New York OTB. The track opened in 1941, and has served western New York fans since then, with the exception of a five-year span from 1997-2002 during which racing was suspended.

The track contains a half-mile oval, and has live simulcasting throughout the year, when racing is not live. There are also almost 600 video gaming machines for those who prefer not to restrict their gambling activities to just the horses.

Located in Batavia, N.Y., the race track is about halfway between Rochester and Buffalo in northwestern New York.
