Trumansburg, New York
Meaning "great fall in the woods," Taughannock Falls is certainly true to its Delaware Indian name. Known to be the largest single drop waterfall in the Northeast, the Falls' main cataract drops 215 feet, making it 33 feet taller than the famous Niagara Falls. The ¾-mile trail here offers visitors splendid views of the Falls, as well as multi-use trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. Cayuga Lake is perfect for relaxing by the waterfront or as the setting for a quaint lakeside picnic. Along with camping and cabins for overnight stays, Taughannock has summer jazz and rock concerts so be sure to bring your blanket and chair and take in the tunes down by the waterside!
