Our Nature Nut Says:

The Cave of the Winds tour at Niagara Falls is an experience you won't quickly forget. A major attraction for tourists, the trip begins with an elevator ride 175 feet deep into the Niagara Gorge, dressed in a bright yellow poncho and protective footwear.

Despite its name, there is no longer a cave at the Cave of the Winds - the cave was destroyed in a rock fall in 1954. The tour takes you over a series of wooden walkways to the famous "Hurricane Deck" where the railing is only 20 feet from Bridal Veil Falls. Naturally, the forceful waters douse everyone with a generous spray and the noise of rushing waters is electrifying. The site boasts rainbows day and night and the vistas of the Niagara Falls are marvelous. The Cave of the Winds tour allows disabled visitors and adults holding young ones, to reach the permanent deck, just 75 feet away from the Niagara Falls.

If you are looking for more excitement, come for an evening tour and enjoy the bright lights which illuminate the Niagara Falls. A tip for visitors: The Cave of the Winds tour is extremely popular in the summer months and lines are long. It's best to arrive either early in the morning or late afternoon. The Cave of the Winds is only open during the spring and summer months, so plan ahead for a trip to remember!
