Our Museum Expert Says:

Visit some of the best modern and contemporary 20th century art in the world! Spend some time with Picasso, van Gogh, and Pollock and the treasure trove of 5,000 fabulous works at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.

The Albright Knox Art Gallery is housed in a Greek Revival style building that has 18 dramatic marble columns on its façade. Though the gallery's original wing dates from 1905, the Albright Knox Gallery has focused on collecting more modern works for its newer wing, which opened in 1962. The gallery houses a fantastic modern and contemporary art collection, especially rich in post-war American and European art. Visitors get a nice mix of abstract expressionism, pop art, and 70s art along with artists such as Gorky, Warhol, and Johns. Showcasing the works of Gauguin, van Gogh, Picassso, Braque, Matisse, Derain, Miró, Mondrian and Rodchenko, everyone will find something to enjoy at this spectacular gallery.

Visitors can enroll in one of the workshops for families, or can check out the Garden Restaurant for great eats. Lunch in the Café Muso is ideal for casual dining and cocktails. Whatever you choose, do plan on spending at least half a day at the gallery to take it all in!

From the Buffalo International Airport, go straight from the airport parking lot and follow signs to Route 33 West (to Downtown Buffalo). Exit onto Route 198 West, and continue on 198 West to Elmwood Avenue South/Art Gallery. At the end of the exit, turn right onto Elmwood Avenue, go to the second stop light and turn left at the gallery.
