Niagara Falls is visited by 10 million tourists each year. The nearby Finger Lakes region has activities for everyone, with cultural and historic attractions, wineries, and some very accessible scenery to boot. Visitors can also enjoy the arts and culture in Canada's largest and very livable city, Toronto.
Niagara Falls Tourist Attractions
You don't need to look far to find Niagara Fall's main tourist attraction—the Falls themselves! And if they're not in direct sight, you'll probably hear the loud crash of the waterfall from pretty much anywhere in the immediate area.
Needless to say, when you finally do area at the falls, you will likely experience a jaw-drop. No pictures, written descriptions, or even videos can capture the magnificent of the Niagara Falls. They are larger than life and unbelievably strong and beautiful. They'll provide you with a stunning backdrop for a family photo, loads of fun, and an overall unforgettable experience.
There are a few ways you can experience the Falls: There are a number of observation decks you can view the falls from—some that will keep you dry from the mist and some that will provide you with a playful splash. There's an observation tower that will offer great views from a bit higher up; and the Cave of the Winds will all you a view from a lot lower down—you take an elevator down to get there—where you can truly get up close and personal with the raging waters. The Maid of the Mist is yet another option that gets you even closer to the Falls and, that's right, even wetter!
Niagara Falls Getaways
Niagara Falls is one of the most visited spots in the northern USA and in the whole of Canada. Therefore, you'll have no trouble at all finding places to stay, dine, explore, and play in and around Niagara Falls. You'll likely see wedding parties, honeymooners, and other singles, couples, and families having a rollicking good time in the mists of one of the world's largest waterfalls.
If you're driving up to Niagara (not Niagra, by the way) Falls from Boston, New York City, or any other points south, you should consider stopping at Western New York's Finger Lakes. Explore some low key and very accessible nature, visit attractions throughout the region and enjoy wines in the most famous grape growing region between France and Napa Valley. You'll find great dining, too.
Toronto, Ontario Tourist Attractions
It would be a shame to travel all the way up to the Canadian border and not to cross over into one of Canada's most well-known and loved cities, Toronto. A Niagara Falls to Toronto road trip is a must. You won't even need a map of Ontario.
The city offers visitors with a taste of Canadian life—the sort of American-European blend that sets Canada apart from the lower portions of the North American continent. The city is large, easily accessible, filled with cultural and historic sites, and offers single travelers and families with a limitless number of activities. If you've only got a short amount of time to spend in Toronto, consider taking an organized tour that will show you the highlights before sitting down for a nice dinner downtown and a cup of joe at Toronto's famous Second Cup coffee shop. A floating boat tour of the harbor is another great way to learn about the city.
If you've got a bit more time to spend exploring Toronto, make sure you divide your time so you spend some of it in the city and some it driving around the surrounding areas. There are a number of scenic drives in and around Toronto and Western New York. Along your way you'll bump into large woodsy state parks, lakes, small towns, and exciting wildlife and birdlife.
Toronto city attractions are many and varied. Top attractions include the Toronto Music Garden, the Hockey Hall of Fame, Fort York, historic Chinatown, and the downtown entertainment district.

The Falls are best viewed from the Canadian side, despite the commercialism. The attraction's majesty is worth seeing from every angle, both during the day and at night.
