Most tourism offices bill snorkeling as one of the most favorite summer activities for visitors to the western New York and south-central Ontario region. Snorkeling to view underwater lake-life is possible at all 11 of the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario, and is best from June to September. Because Skaneateles Lake is the clearest and cleanest of the Finger Lakes, it is also the best choice for high-visibility snorkeling.
Snorkelers should be advised that equipment rentals are few and far between, therefore it is best to pack your own.
