Our Museum Expert Says:

Do your kids hear the word 'museum' and start to moan? If they do, watch how they come alive as they experience fun, hands-on learning at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh!

The museum's permanent exhibits are based on the philosophy of "Play with Real Stuff," whereby real things and real processes challenge children's abilities and help them better understand themselves and the world we live in. These interactive and engaging exhibits include, but are not limited to: Water play, which teaches kids about boat design, river navigation and plumbing; The Studio, where kids can do art projects using various mediums; The Garage, a great introduction to building and kid-oriented physics; The Attic, which lets kids explore the world of their own perceptions through sound, optical illusions and virtual reality. Keep in mind that some exhibits offer messy, kid-friendly fun (paint, water, mud pies), so you might want to bring a change of clothing.

In addition to the exhibits, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh features a lineup of performers ranging from puppeteers to musical acts, cartoonists to artists and actors, and hands-on creative activities are included with many performances. The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh is geared towards children of all ages and there is also The Nursery for toddlers and infants and their parents, equipped with educational exhibits, books and an aquarium.

Come to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh - so much fun, only you will know that your kids are learning!
