Things to do / Travel Guide
Pittsburgh has several wonderful parks that kids of all ages will enjoy. From state of the art and space age playgrounds to skate boarding ramps, Pittsburgh's parks are great places to tire out your younger, energetic travel companions.
Depending on the season your kids can feed ducks, ice skate, or swim at Schenley Park, a giant, green grass and wooded park right in the heart of Pittsburgh. This centrally-located park has playgrounds, wooded paths, public swimming pools, a giant ice-skating rink in the winter, and a large man-made lake (not meant for swimming).
Walk amidst wildflowers and meander along over 600 acres of trails, valleys, and wooded paths. Pittsburgh's Frick Park is the city's largest, and in the summer one of Pittsburgh's best places for children to play tennis and swim.
Check out the unique “space age” playground at Riverview Park, north of downtown Pittsburgh. While Riverview Park is actually home to an equestrian trail and the Allegheny Observatory, it is also a great place for kids and a picnic lunch.
Watch your kids wheel and whir around Mr. Small's Skate Park on Lincoln Avenue. The park has a wide selection of skateboarding ramps and well-designed street courses for in-line skating and free-style biking.
