At 275 feet long and 290 feet high, this rare and wondrous sandstone rock formation is the largest natural bridge in the world. Sculpted over millions of years, the bridge was known only to Native Americans until the 19th century and is to this day very religiously and spiritually significant to several Native American tribes. Visitors primarily ogle the magnificent structure from a designated viewing area instead of approaching it directly, out of religious respect.
Most recreational activities are not permitted in the park although backpacking is allowed with the appropriate permit. You can reach this awesome wonder only by boat, horseback, or a strenuous hike (permit from the Navajo Nation required).
