Kodachrome Basin State Park is 2,240 acres of incredible rock formations of red, yellow, pink, white and brown - and a variety of outdoor fun. Some of the formations here include the sand pipes or chimney spires, which geologists believe to be solidified sediment which filled ancient springs or geysers left standing after the softer surrounding sandstone wore away. Visitors are invited to hike some of the six short trails which lead to scenic views, as well as bike and horseback ride. Many also enjoy auto-touring through the canyons, mesas and arches of the park and camping out under the stars. Whatever you choose, all are sure to love the magnificence of nature evident in the colors and sculpture of Kodachrome Basin.
