Glen Canyon National Recreation Area covers more than one million acres, most of which is desert, in both Arizona and Utah. There is, however, a shimmering oasis in the harsh landscape - Lake Powell. This dazzling blue lake is the prime location for all of your water sport desires including great fishing, boating, and swimming.
A drive to Lees Ferry will yield a glimpse at the "beginning" of the Colorado River and provide insight into the lives of early settlers and frontiersmen. No visit to Glen Canyon would be complete without visiting at least a few of the park's impressive archeological sites, such as Defiance House, Three Roof, Widow's Ledge, and Hole-in-the-Rock Trail, to name just a few. It's also a great area to hike and camp - for dramatic scenery, Orange Cliffs, and the Wahweap areas are great places to explore.
