The most scenic location in Capitol Reef National Park is the Waterpocket Fold, a nearly 100-mile-long crease (technically, it is a monocline) in the Earth's crust found near the Fremont River. It is here in Waterpocket Fold that you will find colorful sandstone canyons, towering monoliths, and sharp ridges.
In addition to exploring the Fold, visitors can take advantage of hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and great biking opportunities. On your journey, look for ancient pertroglyphs depicting bighorn sheep. You can visit the park via the beautiful 10-mile Scenic Drive for a small fee. There are also fruit orchards just a mile or so from the visitor center open to the public for a fee.
