Just north of Fort Lauderdale, in the booming city of Pompano Beach, Florida, is one of the best places for winter harness racing in the United States. Pompano Park has live racing on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the year, with the first post time just before 7:30 p.m.
Pompano Park has now hosted harness races for more than 40 years, with 7,500 seats at the track, and a full facility hosting capacity of 20,000. This includes dining, entertainment, and, the newest additions to the park, slots, video poker, and a poker room.
With its nighttime races, and additional gambling, Pompano Park is a great destination for adults just outside of the major Miami area. However, as it's only a mile from Interstate 95, it's easily accessible to anyone looking to pay the park a visit.
