Our Sports Superfan Says:

Although it is one of NASCAR's newest tracks, opening in 1995, Homestead-Miami Speedway has become one of the circuit's most important, as it is the place where each NASCAR season comes to an end and champions are crowned.

Located just southwest of Miami, in Homestead, Florida, the track not only hosts the closing races of the Sprint Cup, Busch Series, and Craftman Truck Series in NASCAR each November, but it also holds open-wheel racing in March, and motorcycle and other auto races during the rest of the year.

Homestead-Miami sits on 600 acres of land, holds 65,000 people, and has seen a number of exciting finishes since it opened, especially since it was renovated in 1997 and then again in 2003. As part of the 2003 renovation, lights were installed, meaning night racing was now an option. Unfortunately, the redesigned track has also known tragedy, as Indy Racing League driver Paul Dana was killed before the season-opening race here in 2006.

Currently, tours of the track are only available to club members, either for the open-wheel week (Checkered Flag Club) or the NASCAR week (Premier Club).
