Our Sports Superfan Says:
One of the most important racetracks in the southeast, Calder Race Course is the home of a number of major stakes races and important horse sales each year. Since 1971, the track has brought in many fans from the Miami area to check out its action.
The most important races at Calder are the Summit of Speed and the Florida Millions. The Summit has produced a number of Breeders Cup Champions since its inception in 2000, while the Florida Millions is one of the most important days of the year for two-year-olds. There are also two very prestigious thoroughbred sales here each year, the Ocala Breeders' Sale and the Fasig Tipton Sale.
Racing at Calder Race Course runs from late April to early January. It is located in Miami Gardens, the same northern Miami location of Dolphins Stadium, the home of the Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, and the University of Miami football team.
