Our Museum Expert Says:

Enjoy art at the center of one of the world's most vibrant cities! With contemporary art from around the globe and fun evenings of entertainment, the Miami Art Museum is a cosmopolitan art experience you won't easily forget!

Located in Downtown Miami, the Miami Art Museum was founded in 1996 as a contemporary art museum and housed in a 30,000-square-foot building with a rusticated stone wall, a cultural haven in the midst of the high-rises of busy downtown Miami. Among the artists represented in the collection of international art of the 20th and 21st centuries, are Carlos Alfonzo, José Bedia, Fernando Botero, Chuck Close, Joseph Cornell, Marcel Duchamp, Edouard Duval-Carrié, and Teresita Fernández.

Boasting ample contemporary Western art from the World War II era to the present, visitors can enjoy all mediums from paintings, photography and sculpture to print work, as well as special programs like MAM Adventure, which brings schoolchildren in for museum tours, and JAM at MAM, special evenings of art, music and entertainment for patrons. The MAM store offers a variety of goodies from art books and jewelry to stationery and children's toys. And should you get hungry, downtown Miami has plenty of tantalizing dining to choose from, right around the block.

To get to the Miami Art Museum from the north, take I-95 southbound, Downtown. Exit at NW 8th St. (Exit 3B / Port of Miami/Orange Bowl). Turn left onto NW 2nd St. Turn right onto NW 2nd Ave. The museum is two blocks south, on the left, with the parking garage on the right.
