Our Museum Expert Says:

The Miami Beach Holocaust Memorial is an inspiring and thoughtful tribute to the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust during World War II.

The Memorial was conceived by a small group of Holocaust survivors who formed a committee dedicated to building a permanent memorial those who were murdered. There are several components to the memorial, including the Arbor of History, a semi-circle of Jerusalem-stone columns, as well as a group of black-granite slabs that are carved with photographs of the Holocaust history. There is a beautiful garden, which the designer of the memorial dedicated to the memory of European culture, a water lily pond and a dense-green, forest surrounding. The most impressive part of the memorial is perhaps the giant, outstretched arm sculpture, tattooed with a number from Auschwitz, and the hundred life-sized bronze figures of people who seem to climb it - along with the black granite wall inscribed with the names of Holocaust victims.
