Hollywood Beach also goes by the name "Diamond of the Gold Coast," and lives up to its name through its charm and sun kissed pristine beauty, its 7 miles of snow white sand, and its bright blue water that maintains a steady 80 degree temperature year-round.. It was named Florida's Best Beach by Florida Living Magazine, a view shared by Floridians and visitors alike. It is one of three beaches in sunny Hollywood Beach, Florida, taking up 2.5 miles of coastline between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.
Built in the 1920s, the oceanfront boardwalk offers a smooth-planked stretch great for romantic walks along the water. Cyclists and roller bladers can also take advantage of the smooth course of the boardwalk and the beautiful surroundings. There are shops, cafes, and outdoor eateries offering a fantastic ocean view. For a relaxing day in the sun, you can rent cabanas and lounge chairs for a day well spent at the water's edge. There's a lot to do, but what makes this boardwalk special is the unique charm of the beach itself.
For entertainment you won't have to look further than the beach. Besides ongoing games of volleyball and paddleball, you'll see people doing yoga and Tai Chi, alone and in groups. The sea air and sound of the waves rolling in are conducive to a meditative state and to feeling at complete peace with your surroundings.
Hollywood Beach has a natural reef system running up the beach from the Florida Keys called Destination Hollywood that is truly a diver's paradise. There are at least 30 shipwrecks under the water as well as gorgeous coral reefs, and the area is swarming with colorful fish that make their homes here. It's a perfect spot for those already skilled in the underwater arts, and there are also schools here for beginning divers, who want to be able to witness the spectacular underwater world themselves.
It doesn't end there, though. When the sun goes down, Hollywood Beach has lots of nightlife: theater, jazz clubs and great restaurants, all really close to the beach. Accommodations are available all around the beach, but are mostly to be found north of Hollywood Beach Boulevard and northwards towards Garfield. There's also an outdoor theater at the beach around Johnson Street. Most parking is metered, but they all take both cash and credit cards, which ends up being really helpful if you don't want to keep leaving your spot on the beach to feed your meter!
A trip to Hollywood Beach provides exactly what you'll need, whether it's peace and quiet or a fun-filled experience for the whole family. For nature lovers, lovers of the land and sea alike, and those just wanting a relaxing beach atmosphere to escape the routine of every day life, there's no better place to find it than Hollywood Beach.
