Address:North Miami Beach, Florida
Haulover Beach on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach consists of 1.25 miles of shimmering white sand and the wide open turquoise waters of the Intercoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. There are terrific wave conditions for a day of surfing and swimming in an unpretentious setting with golden dunes under crisp blue skies, and the excitement of Miami right nearby.
There is something that sets Haulover Beach apart from many other beaches, and that is the "clothing optional" beach on its northern end, attracting nudists and naturalists from all over. Those who are less comfortable with the nudity tend to spend their time more in the center of the beach and on its southern side.
The nudist beach aside, there are many features of Haulover conducive to having a fun day at the beach, such as picnic areas with grills for barbecues, showers, restrooms, and places to buy food and drinks. Play an intense game of volleyball on the sand, or take part in, or even just watch, the surfing competitions held informally around the beach. There are lifeguards, here throughout the sunrise to sunset opening hours, who keep visitors constantly informed of current and changing weather and surf conditions.
Haulover Park is right across the street from the beach, and features a marina complete with dive shops, boats for sport fishing, a boat ramp, eateries and tennis courts, a golf court, and places to rent all the equipment you'll need for an action-packed day on the water. There are no local accommodations available, but there are plenty to be had a couple of miles away at Miami Beach.
Haulover Beach is a great place for couples looking to get away. It's a very pretty and laid back beach hideaway; a beach where the people who come here are as special as the beach itself.
