Called the most beautiful beach in Florida (and even the best in the world!) by some of the most prestigious travel magazines, Bahia Honda is the true oasis you've been dreaming of. With crystal clear waters and warm sand your toes will thank you for, you may just think you've made it to paradise here. One of Florida's southernmost state parks, Bahia Honda is known for its beautiful beaches, magnificent sunsets, and excellent snorkeling. There are endless ways to enjoy the beach here, from swimming and picnics to simply relaxing in the year-round balmy sea breezes. If you're into water sports, this is the place, as deep waters run real close to the shore at Bahia Honda. Rent a kayak (a great way to explore the park) or snorkeling gear from the concession stand and book a boat trip to the reef for a snorkeling excursion. If you love nature, Bahia Honda is the place to be to get up close and personal with wading birds and shorebirds like blue herons, gulls, egrets, and pelicans, and the nature center is a great way to get to know the island's unique plants and animals too, such as silver and thatch palms, sea lavender, key spider and tiger lily, gumbo-limbo and satinwood. If you choose to spend a night or two at Bahia Honda, take advantage of the full-facility campsites and vacation cabins but do plan in advance; half the campsites can be reserved two weeks in advance and half are rented first come, first served. Amenities at Bahia Honda include picnic areas, rest rooms, and hot showers (located near the beaches). If at the end of a long day in the sun, you're still itching for a bit of nightlife, hop in the car for the 45 minute drive to the numerous bars and clubs on Duval Street in Key West for a memorable dinner or a starlit walk on the beach.
