Things to do / Travel Guide

If it's spas you need, to sooth your mind and muscle, these are in great supply in southern Florida. Long sandy beaches complement the outdoor scene with their promises of comfortable breezes and fresh sea air to refresh your lungs. What a setting in which to avail yourself of the wonderful golf offerings in this region!

Pink flamingos? Camouflaged iguana? Don't be surprised to find them admiring your drive. They're a common and welcome sight on many southern Florida courses. Beaches? These are plentiful too, though it's understandable if you'd prefer to stay out of them while heading towards the green.
And spas? These are in also great supply and you'd certainly be wise to visit one just before sunset to reflect on your best shots of the day, or to work out a couple of kinks in your lower back.

While the southern Florida region is filled with many wonderful public courses, here are a couple superstar layouts guaranteed to please and challenge.

The PGA National Golf Club - Champion Course, which was redesigned by none other than Jack Nicklaus, serves up three holes requiring blasts over water, and an average of six sand traps per hole. Feathered friends? We leave it to you to find them. Spas? There are three close by, including the Spa at PGA National.

The second - and equally-glamorous golf setting - is the Blue Course at Doral Country Club. Also known as the Blue Monster, this long course features water galore, strategically-placed bunkers and Bermuda rough. Feeling achy afterwards? The spa at Doral is at your service.
