Venture down the whitewater of the Trinity River and experience the 19 miles of Class II-III+ (upper); I-II (lower) rapids. These sections, Pigeon Point to Big Flat and Hawkins Bar to Willow Creek, pass through Salmon-Trinity Alps Wilderness and the Trinity National Forest, and are located in northern California, 40 miles north-west of Redding, on Hwy 299.
Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from April to October, with whitewater rafting trips ranging in length from a day trip up to 5 days. Popular trips include the 13 mile Upper section, and the 6 mile Lower section. The river is suitable for paddle rafts, and oar rafts. Portage may be required.
Useful Tips: Guides are optional, although permits may be required for private trips. Outfitters on the Trinity River offer trips suitable for families.
Expect to See: An environment of canyons, and mountains.
