Our Nature Nut Says:

Lassen Peak, an active volcano, and the largest plug dome volcano in the world, is one of northern California's finest destinations. The park is one of the few places in the world to contain all four types of volcanoes (plug dome, strato, cinder cone, and shield). The second-highest peak in the park is Brokeoff (that's Brokeoff, not Brokeback) Mountain which connects to the main attraction, Lassen Peak.
There are lots of great opportunities to explore the park, including several fun hiking options. The Mill Creek Falls trail, a 2.5-hour trip, will take you to the highest waterfall in the park while leading you through a heavily-forested trail. The incredible Bumpass Hell hike takes about three hours to complete and brings you to one of the park's amazing thermal areas. Be prepared for boiling springs, bubbling mudpots, and foul-smelling fumaroles. Weather plays a major role in enjoying the park's attractions, even in the summer, so be sure to check with the park management for closures before planning your trip.

From Lassen Volcanic National Park - California:

All four types of volcanoes in the world are found in the park. Over 150 miles of trails and a culturally significant scenic highway provide access to volcanic wonders including steam vents, mudpots, boiling pools, volcanic peaks, and painted dunes.
