The best time to pay a visit to the southern Cascades is unquestionably the summer. The cool to mild weather is perfect for outdoor activities like hiking. While the mercury rises to about 75 degrees in the lower-lying areas of the region, you're much more likely to encounter cooler temperatures hiking up in the mountains, where the air is almost always crisp and fresh.
The winter weather in the southern Cascades region is cold and snowy. The cool weather continues in the short spring season. The summers in this region are generally cool to mild, with warmer weather in lower-lying places and still cool weather at higher altitudes. As fall approaches, temperatures decline again, and the amount of precipitation increases.
