Our Botanical Gardens Expert Says:
Visit an oasis of exotic plants from all over the world. The 206-acre Huntington Botanical Gardens are home to many of the most unusual and beautiful plant specimens in the world. This includes 15 specialized gardens filled with 20,000 different kinds of plants. The themed gardens are devoted to roses, camellias, subtropical, Australian, and jungle plants, as well as palms, bamboo, and water lilies. Visitors will especially love exploring the desert and Japanese gardens, while the Rose Garden, along with the camellia collection, are one of the largest in the country.
Visitors to Huntington are also welcome to explore the fine Art Collections, as well as the library, which has some of the finest rare books and manuscripts of Anglo-American civilization. The Conservatory teaches older kids about botany, while the younger kids can learn the same in the Children's Garden, perfect for kids ages 2-7.
A day here wouldn't be complete, of course, without a stop at the Rose Garden Tea Room or the Café, where visitors can enjoy a traditional English tea or a mouth-watering dessert. You can easily get here from Colorado or California Boulevards. Simply take Allen Avenue south for two blocks to Huntington's entrance gate.
