Our Nature Nut Says:

Explore the southern-most national forest in California. With 460,000 vegetation and wildlife filled acres, the Cleveland National Forest offers a wide variety of terrains and recreation

Once known only to the desert and coastal Indian tribes, many of the trails at Cleveland National Forest follow the routes first used by these early dwellers. A haven for wildlife and plants, the wild shrub and tree-covered mountains are remnants of a landscape that at one time covered most of southern California. In fact, most of the forest vegetation here is chaparral, predominantly coastal sage, chamise, manzanita and ceanothus. Visitors can enjoy flowery meadows surrounded by majestic cedars, firs, live oaks, and century-old Jeffrey Pine which are green in summer and multi-colored in the fall. Nature lovers, keep your eyes peeled for the mountain lions, deer, and many other species that live in Cleveland National Forest.

The ecosystems of the forest are unique, and cradle irreplaceable wildlife habitats, threatened and endangered plants and animals as well as land that is managed to preserve and protect them. So don't delay, pay a visit to Cleveland National Forest, located north and east of sunny San Diego, and easily accessible from many routes.
