Our Museum Expert Says:

Now there's a way to experience life on a legendary ocean liner, the Queen Mary! Not only can you eat, shop, and experience the Behind the Scenes Guided Tour, but you can even sleep over in an original First Class Stateroom!

The Queen Mary was built by John Brown and Company in Clydebank, Scotland and sailed the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967 out of the United Kingdom Port. Now a hotel, restaurant, and museum in Long Beach, California, the Queen Mary has been converted to best accommodate tourists while continuing to maintain the original liner atmosphere.

Not only can guests learn about the maritime and political history surrounding the ship, the Queen Mary also has a unique paranormal history. After the Queen Mary moved from the United Kingdom to California in 1967, ghosts were rumored to have been seen on board. The Queen Mary now offers a Ghosts & Legends show and other ghost-themed tours that explore this intriguing side of the Queen Mary's history. There was even an episode of "The X-Files" that was filled on the Queen Mary. Other (non-paranormal) movies that have used the Queen Mary as a set include Pearl Harbor, Being John Malkovich, and the series finale of "Arrested Development."

General Admission to the Queen Mary includes a Self-Guided Shipwalk Tour, an audio tour, and the Ghosts & Legends tour, all for about $25 (discounts for seniors, military, and children). Other admissions options include entrance to the Haunted Encounters Tour, the Russian Foxtrot Submarine, and the Aquarium. Have fun at this bit of maritime history!
