You will truly be inspired by the fine historic architecture and some of the best and completely preserved furnishings, arts, and crafts showcased at The Gamble House, located in Pasadena, California.
Designed in 1908 by architects Greene & Greene the Gamble House started off as a retirement residence on what used to be known as Millionaire's Row. Proctor & Gamble acquired the residence next door and shortly purchased the adjacent property. It took eleven months for the master craftsmen to complete the designs. Scandinavian woodworkers turned, joined, carved, and rubbed seventeen species of wood with exquisite craftsmanship. Today, The Gamble House is an outstanding example of American Arts and Crafts style architecture. This gorgeous house is an historical landmark.
The recently created Details and Joinery exhibition is a real treat, detailing from the ground up how the house was built and designed. Visitors learn why certain woods were chosen, how they were put together, and the intricacies of the metal work and art glass created especially for the house. You will be awestruck at the exquisite work and creativity behind this marvelous dwelling.
To access The Gamble House, take the Gold Line Metro Rail from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena. Get off at Memorial Park or Del Mar for a 1 mile walk. Take bus #267 from Memorial Park and stop near the Gamble House at Rosemont and Orange Grove.
Fascinate yourself with innate wood carvings, beautiful furniture, and classic artwork as you marvel at this wondrous historic monument.
