The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, perched atop a picturesque coastal mountain, only 45-minutes from downtown Los Angeles, is so much more than just a library. This jam-packed attraction features informative exhibits and artifacts on the life and presidency of Ronald Reagan, as well as a wide range of multi media exhibits, presentations and hands-on activities related to American politics and presidents.
The Cold War Gallery and the Dividing Wall exhibit are engaging ways of learning about the Cold War and the Berlin Wall, regardless of whether the actual events were "before your time" or remain fresh in your memory. The Gallery of Presidents displays the portraits and biographies of every American president, and there are four theatres screening videos that trace President Reagan's life as an actor, governor and president. You can stop by the Oval Office and hear Reagan's observations about being president, and even walk through the authentic Air Force One that served as the "Flying White House" for seven presidents! Simply put, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is a must-see museum.
The Ronald Reagan Library is one of the nine Presidential libraries built with private funds and donated to the United States. The actual archives are not open to the public but can be accessed for research purposes. In addition to its replica of the White House Rose Garden, the grounds of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library are also home to the Memorial Site where the President was laid to rest in 2004.
