Our Museum Expert Says:

The 300,000 square feet Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles will blow you away. The museum's four floors contain 150 rare and classic cars, impressive dioramas, stunning exhibits, and more. Internationally known for its innovative design and interpretation on how the automobile has influenced our lives, you will really be taken for a race through history, art, and culture.

Visitors to the Peterson Automotive Museum will simply adore the massive first floor. Here is where you will find classic and vintage bikes, as well as new state-of-the-art race cars. Discover the new designs in automotive technology, learn how cars are used in the movie industry and be dazzled by the showcase of cars from your favorite movies. .

The museum's May Family Children's Discovery Center was created for kids, but adults will also love this interactive, hands-on gallery that illustrates the mechanics of the automobile.

A fascinating exhibit on alternative power sources features an 1897 battery operated car, a 1909 steam powered car, one of the first 1917 gas-electric hybrids, cars powered by coal, gas turbines and even atomic energy. Also on the second floor, you will enjoy the ever-popular Hot Wheels Hall of Fame, currently celebrating its 35th year. And check out the special exhibit - Microcars, the Minimum is Motoring - a keen showing of the rather interesting small cars. You won't believe the designs.

To access the Peterson Automotive Museum, take the Santa Monica Freeway (Rt. 10) and exit at Fairfax Ave. Drive north and you'll see the museum at the first corner at Wilshire Blvd.
