Visit San Diego's most popular creative destination for all ages and enjoy hands-on art projects, storytelling, music, visual and performing arts!
The Children's Museum of San Diego has served more than 3 million visitors since 1981, bringing learning through the arts to events, festivals, fairs, schools and libraries, since 2002. With an assortment of dynamic, arts-based education programs and exhibits that cultivate creativity, originality and individuality, the museum is designed to engage everyone from toddlers and teens to parents and grandparents.
Visitors to the Children's Museum of San Diego can enjoy multi-cultural activities which celebrate diverse worldwide communities through hands-on art projects, storytelling, music, visual and performing arts. The new Museum, due to open in May 2008, will include a sustainable design with a three story atrium, a 17-foot concrete entrance bridge, angled "saw tooth" roof structure, tilt-up concrete panels, and a glass-enclosed elevator shaft that functions as a heating/cooling tower. Multiple galleries will provide spaces for hands-on experimentation. The museum will also house two birthday party rooms, a 250-seat theater and an indoor/outdoor cafe.
From Children's Museum of San Diego, California:
The Children's Museum/Museo de los Ni?os San Diego is undertaking its greatest transformation since its founding over 25 years ago. By building a new state-of-the-art facility and expanding programming, we are reshaping the role and identity of the Museum as a premier family attraction and community resource. The inspiring Rob Wellington Quigley design of the new facility will allow the presentation of programs and exhibits in exciting new ways, providing visitors with an enriching experience.
