The West Coast's largest hands-on science center gives visitors a totally interactive science experience. From inventions and innovations to the life processes of living things, visitors will always discover something exciting and new at the California Science Center.
The California Science Center has a variety of activities to choose from including the IMAX Theater with its 7 story high screen, the Sketch Foundation Gallery, Air and Space Exhibits, and the Science Center itself. Highlights at the museum include Tess, a 50-foot animatronic woman whose muscles, bones, organs, and blood vessels are revealed to demonstrate how the body reacts to a variety of activities, and the Air and Space Gallery, where real spacecrafts are suspended overhead. There is also a zero-gravity Space Docking simulator; an expanding kinetic sculpture that goes from 15 feet to five stories high. If visiting with little kids, stop by the Discovery Rooms in Creative World, the World of Life and the Air and Space Gallery, as they are particularly geared towards young visitors. Take note: if only visiting the normal exhibits and not seeing an IMAX film or a special exhibit there's no need to stop at the ticket booths. Just walk in, as admission is free. Should you get hungry, the Science Center has a McDonald's as well as the Rose Garden Cafe, a cafeteria-style eatery that features Taco Bell Express and a coffee bar.
The California Science Center is located in historic Exposition Park, just two blocks west of the Harbor (110) Freeway at the Exposition Boulevard exit. Public transportation to the Science Center is also available, so put on your thinking caps and come on down!
