Our History Buff Says:

Come visit the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, even if you don't plan to stay. This magnificent hotel, built in Italian-Spanish Renaissance style, is the crown jewel of Los Angeles' hotels, encompassing an entire city block in the heart of the city's business, financial, and cultural district.

In 1923, the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles opened to the public. Built by John McEntee Bowman, and designed by architects Leonard Schultze and S. Fullerton Weaver, the 683-unit Millennium Biltmore was the largest hotel west of Chicago at the time of its completion. Since then, its stately lobby, featuring a replica of the elaborate wrought-iron stairwell found in Spain's Burgos cathedral, has been used to film scenes from many movies, including "Chinatown," "Ghostbusters," and "The Nutty Professor." The lobby of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel was also used as the headquarters for the 1960 Democratic National Convention.

Designed by the same firm responsible for the Breakers in Palm Beach, and the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan, the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles boasts ceiling frescoes of angelic cherubs, hand painted by Italian artist Giovanni Smeraldi. It also features a magnificent indoor pool, with original blue-and-ivory tiles and a polished brass ceiling, a spa tub, extra-large sauna, and a steam room and fitness center. The Grand Avenue Sports Bar is here as well; a favorite after-work hangout for local businesspeople. Other dining options available at the Millennium Biltmore include North Italian and Californian cuisine at Smeraldi's Ristorante, and Japanese fare at Sai Sai. Also nearby is Griffith Park, with its public golf course and plenty of other recreational activities, and the magnificent beaches of Santa Monica.

The Millennium Biltmore Hotel at 506 S. Grand Avenue in Los Angeles, is just a short walk northwest from the Pershing Square Metro station. Come see the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles and experience one of the finest hotels in Los Angeles.
