Our Beach Bum Says:

One of the most famous and popular beaches in Southern California, Zuma Beach, or just Zuma to locals, boasts three miles of white sand and sparkling ocean that's been the site of many film and TV shoots, including the 70s film starring Suzanne Somers called 'Zuma Beach'. Located in Malibu, Zuma has also been used since the 1940's to host the international lifeguard competitions and still sponsors major volleyball tournaments to this day. But you don't have to be a Hollywood star or a volleyball pro to enjoy the gorgeous sand and sun and beachside courts here. Everyone is invited to soak in the rays and enjoy a cool swim in the ocean, or perhaps you'd prefer to get physical and take a hike up the cliff at Point Dume for breathtaking views of the ocean instead? Fires are prohibited at the beach, so plan in advance and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under the sun. There are also snack bars on the beach and a market across the Pacific Coast Highway so you can pick up some last minute sandwich supplies if you've forgotten to come prepared. The beautiful boating area in Paradise Cove is also great for kayaking, but since there are no on-site rental offices, you'll have to bring your own equipment. Parking is available in a pay lot near the beach and there's street parking available too, but of course, as always, it is first come, first served.
