Will Rogers State Beach was named after Will Rogers, a famous actor and rancher from the 1920s. He owned 186 acres along the California Coast and when he and his wife died, the ranch became a state park, of which 1.75 miles of it became the Will Rogers State Beach.
You may recognize Will Rogers State Beach from such movies as Star Trek IV, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Kiss. Also, before the television show Baywatch moved to Hawaii, it was shot at Will Rogers State Beach.
Will Rogers State Beach is located near the intersection of the Pacific Coast Highway and Temescal Canyon Road.
