If you're visiting in July, don't miss the San Clemente Ocean Festival, also at the base of the pier, on the third weekend of the month, for lifeguard competitions, kids' pavilion, fishing derby, rubber duck race, sand castle contest, art show and a beach blanket barbecue and concert.
