Things to do / Travel Guide

Southern California is known around the world for its excellent year-round weather. The climate is eternally temperate due to the moderate weather and sea breezes from the Pacific Ocean, as well as the mountains to the north and the east that block the extreme heat and freezing cold. This region gets minimal precipitation during the “rainy” season, from November-March. A “marine layer,” which develops most evenings and “burns off” in the late morning, keeps this coastal area cool even in the summer.

The mild winter is actually the sunniest season of the year, but it is also the coolest.
Sunny, mild weather arrives in the spring, which typically has very few rainy days, that produces a lush, green landscape covered with blooming wildflowers. Summers are dry, hot, and sunny, with lots of smog and virtually no precipitation. Weather in the fall is warm, the skies are extremely clear, and the water temperatures are still attractive for swimming, bathing, and surfing. In the mountains, there is a gorgeous display of fall floral color.
