Discover the many faces of Arizona's oldest, and largest, botanical garden. At an elevation of 2,400 feet, Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park is filled with deserts, towering trees, and captivating cacti. You'll find mountain cliffs, a streamside forest, panoramic vistas, and many natural habitats. Home to varied wildlife, a desert lake, a hidden canyon, specialty gardens, and much more, this Arboretum is brimming with natural beauty. There are more than 230 bird, and 72 terrestrial, species here, along with specialty gardens. These include the Hummingbird-Butterfly Garden, the Desert Legume Garden, Cactus Garden, Curandero Trail, Wing Memorial Herb Garden, and Eucalyptus Forest, among others. Visitors can enjoy scenic walks through the garden's 35-acre grounds, or enjoy a shaded picnic. Don't forget to take home a cactus, succulent, or shrub from the garden's visitor center to remember your visit to Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
The Arboretum is located at Highway 60, milepost #223, near the historic copper mining town of Superior, just 55 miles due east of Phoenix.
