Organ Pipe Cactus National Park in southern Arizona is, among other things, an ode to the organ pipe cactus, rarely found in the United States. You'll feel the rhythm of Sonoran Desert life exhibited naturally all throughout the park. The beautiful desert scenery is full of surprises and great trails to explore; one will even take you past an old silver and gold mine. From October-April, visitors can also take advantage of the rugged biking trails throughout the monument as well as camping opportunities. If you must visit in the summer, a driving tour may be your best option, as temperatures frequently exceed 100 degrees. Despite the extremely harsh desert conditions, owls, jackrabbits, snakes, and bighorn sheep make their homes in the park.
