Our Museum Expert Says:

Spend an afternoon exploring the leading art museum in the American Southwest!

With over 17,000 works of American, Asian, European, Latin American, modern, and contemporary art, the Phoenix Art Museum is an art lover's dream.

Founded in 1936 as the Phoenix Art Center, a part of the Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project, the Museum later evolved into the Phoenix Fine Arts Association, before being renamed the Phoenix Art Museum. The 203,000-square-foot building integrates art and architecture with the southwestern landscape with large sweeping interior spaces. Popular collections include those of Monet, Picasso, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe, and daily one-hour tours and lectures led by Museum-trained volunteer docents, are included with admission. The whole family will enjoy the interactive ArtWorks Gallery and the historic interiors of the well-known Thorne miniature rooms. The Art Museum Café by Arcadia Farms has great casual dining with sandwiches, salads, desserts, and a kids menu.

The Phoenix Art Museum is located at McDowell Road & Central Avenue 1625 N. Central Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85004.
