Gorgeous southern Arizona boasts a number of wonderful zoos for you to enjoy.
Phoenix
Wildlife World Zoo, Inc., in Litchfield Park, near Phoenix, has been called a present-day Noah's ark - a place to see the animals up-close and surrounded by nature. Small mammals, reptiles, and fish all await you in this beautiful, modern zoo.
Other places of interest near Phoenix in the southern Arizona region include the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and the Desert Botanical Garden.
Tucson
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, in Tucson, is one of the top-rated zoos in the world that's also a natural history museum and botanical garden. Gila monsters, rattlesnakes, and scorpions are among the exciting creatures you'll see here.
You'll see rare and endangered species at Tucson's Reid Park Zoo as well as learn what can be done to protect them. Watch the black jaguar prowl and the piranhas feed. Kids will love the scene too, and once they've had their fill there's a playground right next door.
