Wineries in Phoenix, Tucson, Scottsdale, Tombstone, Arizona

Things to do / Travel Guide

Franciscan missionaries were the first ones to plant vineyards southeast of Tucson, and there are still two wineries in the southern Arizona region producing great wine.

Dark Mountain Brewery and Winery

Formerly known as the R.W. Webb Winery, this is Arizona's largest winery. The winery is open daily for visitors and the winery's tour will tell you about its specialties -Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah, Port, and Sherry. Tastings are also included in the minimal entrance fee.

Charron Vineyards

Before planting his vineyard in the 1960s, Leo Cox was a nuclear engineer. Today, his Charron Vineyard handcrafts about 200 cases of White Merlot each year.
The wine is so select that you have to join a private mailing list to place an order, but no appointments are necessary for the wine tastings that are held every weekend. They describe their White Merlot as having, “the honeyed crispness of a premium Chardonnay with the medium body of a red.” Harvest time is early August, with the release in November.
