Golf Courses in Phoenix, Tucson, Scottsdale, Tombstone, Arizona

Things to do / Travel Guide

Beautiful southern Arizona, home to wondrous saguaro cactus “forests,” is also the setting for some unforgettable golf experiences. Most of the golf courses are concentrated in two areas - around Phoenix and near Tucson.

Golf in Tucson

The Tucson clubs begin with the La Paloma Country Club Ridge/Canyon, course which lets users combine three available 9-hole courses to play any 18-hole combination. The Canyon/Ridge combination provides even skilled golfers with a very challenging experience.

The semi-private Ventana Canyon Mountain Course contains many elevation changes. The desert comes into play a lot and accuracy is key.

The existence of many hills makes Arizona National a tough course for walking. There are a series of desert springs, rocky outcroppings, and a forest of giant saguaros. Ouch!

Golf in Phoenix

Moving to the Phoenix area, the Talking Stick Golf Club North Course was selected by Golfweek as one of “America's 100 Best Modern Courses” for 1999. Its links-style design features wide fairways with no trees, strategic bunkering, and native grasses.

Then there's We-Ko-Pa. Surrounded by four mountain ranges, your ball will sail through the fresh, clean air, and at the end of the day you will feel at peace with your game and the world.

Grayhawk Talon Course treats golfers to vistas of the surrounding McCowell Mountains, and Phoenix Valley. Many of the holes offer above-average challenges, and as such you'll be sure to enjoy the island green on the 17th.

Grayhawk Raptor Course is a beautiful but difficult play, with tight fairways and deep bunkers.

Giant granite boulders lie as obstacles all around on the Troon North Pinnacle Course. Mistakes can be deadly, so novices beware!

Boulders Resort Golf Club North Course is a beautifully-maintained desert golf course on the grounds of a relaxing spa. Need we say more?

Finally, the Raven Golf Club at Verrado surrounds golfers with desert flora, rolling fairways, and large, well-groomed greens. Sports Illustrated has called it the #1 public golf course in Phoenix.

All of these courses are as special as the southern Arizona region itself, and golfers who play them will surely be satisfied.
