Our Ski Specialist Says:

Men's Journal and USA Today have named Davis, West Virginia "One of the Top Ten Coolest Mountain Towns" and "Best Kept Secret" thanks to Timberline Four Seasons ski resort, and with good reason. With over 150 inches of powder blanketing Timberline, located in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia, it's almost heaven here. Timberline Four Seasons prides itself on being a located in a sleepy town far from the city skylines. Located just 3 hours from both Charleston, West Virginia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Timberline features 36 beautifully groomed trails to suit all levels of winter sport enthusiasts that arrive at its 4,268 foot summit.

Timberline Four Seasons boasts 915 acres of wooded area carved out into an assortment of trails, ranging from the easy 2 mile "Salamander" trail, to the breathtaking views and intermediate challenges of the "Twister," and on to the aptly named "Off the Wall" for the real adrenaline seekers. There are 3 slow moving chairlifts to take you to the top. Fortunately, since Timberline is rarely crowded, the lines are short and the long ride gives you a chance to relax and catch your breath on your way back to the top. Timberline's season runs from December to April and it is open seven days a week. The site opens its gates at 9am during the week and at 8am on Saturdays. From Sunday to Wednesday they close up shop at 4:30pm, while the rest of the week you can ride until 9pm.

Snowboarders have a choice of two terrain parks and freestyle areas, as well as a beautiful halfpipe which is groomed nightly. Timberline welcomes snowboarders on all of its trails.

Lessons are given for first time skiers, snowboarders or telemark skiers. There are also classes available for backcountry, adapative, women's clinics, and senior levels. Lessons can be purchased for group, private, or multiple day lesson packages. There is also a racing team and NASTAR clinic to test out your stamina and speed.

Rentals are on a first come, first served basis, and come in standard or demo packages. You may rent alpine, telemark, backcountry, and cross-country skis, as well as snowboards which require a credit card or cash deposit. There is a full repair and retail shop on site as well.

Lift passes are priced according to what part of the season you come in. There are also college, military, and holiday rates. You may purchase all day, half day, night, or twilight tickets. This range of options makes Timberline very affordable for any budget.

Timberline Four Seasons holds many music and art festivals during the season in their stunning lodge and the surrounding areas. The Timbers Pub and Fireside Grill stokes a fireplace to provide warmth, with a full service bar, terrific views out onto the slopes, and live music on the weekends. There is even late night service available for take-out orders. When the weather permits, the Timberhaus Cafeteria does a slow-cooked BBQ on their outside deck. Ski and stay packages are available at Timberlines, with over 34 units and choices of lodging onsite.

Off site, you can travel into Davis itself and check out the three bed and breakfasts, microbrewery, and specialty shops. Thomas, the neighboring town, has slightly more nightlife, with live music, shopping centers, and additional lodging options.

"Davis is Dixie-darlin for skiers who'd rather drive to the Appalachians than fly to the Rockies" raves Men's Journal, and, with a town population of around 700 people, USA Today has it right when they say that Timberline "is everything a city isn't." It's easy to see why Timberline Four Seasons is a great place to go when you want to get away.
