Our Botanical Gardens Expert Says:
The State Arboretum of Virginia, a living museum and research facility in the northern Shenandoah Valley, contains over 8,000 trees or shrubs. Of all the world's species of pines, over half can be found in the arboretum, plus there is a substantial gingko tree grove, an herb garden, and other memorial gardens. The gardens can be explored by the 3 mile loop drive or by the walking trails. The native plant trail is a paved path displaying the diverse nature of Virginia fauna, as it existed prior to the 1600's.
