Well, you got up in the morning and decided that today is a great day to find some end-of-season deals at your nearest factory outlet mall. So, you searched on Google for "Slidell Outlet Mall" and you got here looking for some encouragement to go out and grab some bargains. Sorry, but we have some bad news – the mall closed a few years ago, never having recovered from Hurricane Katrina. The site is pretty much abandoned and we hope, by the time you are reading this the mall will be demolished and something nice . But things were not always bad for the outlet mall in Slidell, LA. The location is great, right off several interstates – with quick access to the Gulf Coast region and about 30 minutes from New Orleans.

Given all that, we suggest a 45 minute drive east on I-10 to Gulfport, MS and visit the largest outlet mall in the area – Gulfport Premium Outlets (which was formerly called Prime Outlets). Make a day of it and spend some time at the beach as well. Popular beaches along the way are at Long Beach and Pass Christian, both on Mississippi's Gulf Coast. Or, head west to Baton Rouge, where you will find several large malls. Or to Lakeside Mall across Lake Pontchartrain in Metairie, Louisiana. We would have no problem if you skip the mall completely and visit some local attractions like the Stennis Space Center. If you are looking for something more outdoorsy, head west to the wildlife refuges and the state park preserves on the north shore of the lake. All in all, it is not so bad that the Slidell Outlet Mall is gone. There is still lots to do in the area around New Orleans.
