Gulf State Park Beach - Gulf Shores, Alabama

Things to do / Travel Guide

Our Beach Bum Says:

Enjoy 6,150 feet of pure white sands along the beautiful shores of the Gulf of Mexico at Alabama's Gulf State Park Beach! You can drive or walk through the two miles of stunning beach and enjoy some of the most wonderful coastal scenery and the best part is that it's free! Visitors will love snorkeling in the clear water, searching for shells (you find a ton here!), swimming, and just lounging around on the soft sand seashore. There are also dunes and opportunities for birdwatching and fishing – something for everyone at Gulf State Park beach! And if you come to the beach mid-August, you can expect to see some sea turtle nests hatching – what a sight! The Naturalist at the Gulf Shores State Park is useful for directing guests to the nests which sometimes can be hard to find.

Gulf State Park Beach also hosts little cabins on their campsite that come highly recommended. Guests rave over the quaint little cabins as being clean, convenient, and affordable. Close to the beach and to the town, this option is great for families or honeymooners who want to split their time between beach bumming and hanging out in town.

There was some destruction after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, but has since been rebuilt, including a large pavilion with clean bathrooms. There's also ample parking, shaded picnic tables, and some outdoor showers.

A great stay and a great beach – with true southern hospitality!
