Things to do / Travel Guide
After Cajuns get fired-up from their guacamole and gumbo they head out to cheer on their Saints and Hornets. The New Orleans Saints come marching in at the Louisiana Superdome during the NFL season. Right next door is the New Orleans Arena, the permanent home of the NBA's Hornets. However, to help take the sting out of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Hornets are temporarily proving their mettle and creating quite the buzz for basketball fans in Oklahoma City.
This region also hosts a heap of college bowl games. If you're stuck in Mobile with the Memphis Blues again, maybe watching college football's GMAC Bowl at Ladd Peebles Stadium will help lift your spirits. The New Orleans Bowl and the Sugar Bowl are also hosted by the “Big Easy” every year.
If your blues are more of the jailhouse variety, maybe the Angola Prison Rodeo at the Louisiana State Penitentiary will make you feel better.
