Luxury Hotels and Vacations in New Orleans
New Orleans is back in business and its hotels, restaurants and entertainment offering much to the traveler seeking a luxury vacation. French Quarter hotels aimed at the upscale traveler to New Orleans include the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street, the historical Monteleone on Royal Street and the contemporary W New Orleans. There are some smaller historic and upscale lodging options in the French Quarter. Soniat House is a recommended luxury hotel – try to get a balcony suite.
Few people would disagree with the statement that New Orleans is the undisputed capital of gourmet cuisine in the United States. Certainly for Cajun and Creole cooking. With some of the best chefs in the country, there is almost no limit as to the level of luxury and elegance to be experienced in the restaurants of New Orleans. Ask around for what is best and be sure to reserve in advance and keep the evening free.
Outside of New Orleans, consider spending a night or two at one of the River Road plantations. Two options that come to mind are staying in a bed and breakfast cottage at Oak Alley Plantation or at the renovated inn at Nottoway Plantation.
